More Information

Even today, cinnamon is not grown in the United States. Most of the world's cinnamon still comes from the West Indies where is originated. Cinnamon sticks are actually the bark of Cinnamomum family plants. Chinese and Indian Medicine have used cinnamon since circa 3000 BC.
Cinnamon was originally used as a digestive aid and appetite inducer. Today, modern science has proven this to be medically true. Among other discovers, research has also found that cinnamon warms the body by increasing blood-flow to the extremities. For this reason the spice is also considered an aphrodisiac (Encyclopedia of Alternative Medicine).
Today one may find cinnamon in everything from toothpaste to soft drinks. Aside from that, it is a good idea to incorporate a regular dose of cinnamon into one's weekly eating regiment. Cinnamon is said to make the stomach stronger, and diabetics are encouraged to consume it due to poor circulation in the feet.
The Smell and Taste Research Foundation in Chicago discovered that men in the United States are somewhat sexually attracted to cinnamon and particularly the smell of cinnamon rolls. This research was done by a computer attached to men's penises.
