Fact of the Day More Information The original song was called "Good Morning to All" and composed by the Mildred J. and Patty Smith Hill in 1893. The song kept the same melody, but soon the words were changed by the children singing it. After hearing the song being used over and over again in the famous musicals of the early 1930s, the other Hill sister (Jessica) took the case to the courts. Unfortunately for the other two sisters, Jessica was the only one alive when the song was finally copyrighted. It is said that the royalties now go to their nephew, Archibald Hill [source].
