Fact of the Day More Information A total of seven bombs were dropped in standard formation in the middle of the night on this poor, unsuspecting town. All town lights had been extinguished before bed except for a few in the square which happen to mimic the testing site (which was miles away) for these bombers. Luckily, no one was hit. The town church, however, did lose all of its windows when a bomb landed next to the building. The statue memorializing the incident is a giant crater with an unexploded bomb sitting in it (like something found at the scene the next day).
Hawaii was not a state when Pearl Harbor was bombed.
In war, this group of bombers became some of the most decorated after hitting Berlin. The town forgives them. View All Facts View Images View Maps Blog
