Fact of the Day

More Information

Actually making the best of what they had brought on the boat and what they could find in their new environment, the food of the pilgrims has since been romanticized into the modern times. By the time of the harvest they no longer had any sugar which probably made for lackluster desserts. Their food was also heavily spiced which is not normally associated with puritan cuisine.
Oddly enough, the pilgrims were also lacking something regarded as very important at a modern Thanksgiving Day celebration: a fork. Spoons and knives were among the utensils present but when it came to the fork's job the colonists would prefer their bare hands [source].

Pilgrims also didn't wear black clothes with buckles.
