Fact of the Day

More Information

Second most recognizable is Coca-Cola. OK was made popular in the 1830s during the campaign for Martin Van Buren's reelection. The man was born in Kinderhook, NY and was nicknamed Old Kinderhook. His supporters formed what they referred to as the OK Club, getting the phrase into every American household. The competing party tried all that they could to squash the campaign or give it an alternate connotation. In response to OK the other party fashioned orl korrekt as satire probably insulting Van Buren's ancestry/birthplace. In the end, what happen was that the abbreviation itself stuck with the satirical meaning but no real connotation.

Fact of the Day, "Blue-Eyed Family"
