Fact of the Day

More Information

The Bay of Fundy in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Maine drains almost completely during low tide. The waters recede almost 350 feet in about 5 minutes. Due to the unique environment, this ecosystem is home to a plethora of diverse marine life. The population includes 8 species of whale, seals, porpoises, dolphins and birds. The seabed in the bay is very fertile and home to even more life. One can walk along the exposed coastline during low tide where 4 stories of water stood just minutes before. Some caves are also uncovered when the waters go out.
