Fact of the Day

More Information

The town of Vegreville, Canada is the egg's actual location, east of Edmonton. Actually built in the mid-1970s as a commemoration piece, the design and construction behind the egg made for "nine mathematical, architectural, and engineering firsts" [source]. It was the first egg mapped out on computer before being built.

The eggs is referred to as Pysanka (???????) or simply Easter Egg in Ukrainian. This name most likely comes from the word for to write (in Russian ??????/pysat) as the patterns are drawn on eggs with beeswax.
The egg is also a weathervane at a height and width of 18 x 26 feet.
