Fact of the Day

More Information

Without efficient track cleaning, metro tracks can face debilitating problems such as burning debris and drain clogs. Floods and fires like these commonly result in the shutting down of train lines. In busy cities like New York, a simple fire can cause massive people-traffic and other unacceptable conditions for mass transit.
The Vaktrak vacuum is in the shape of a train and sucks in all directions (no offense). This is necessary because garbage can pile up underneath the platform as well.
The flooding in some subway stations resembles waterfalls in the spots where the steps should be. This colossal amount of water could cause a serious problem in a subway station equipped with the infamous third rail. Water conducts electricity very well and standing in the water is enough to give you the jolt of your life.
