Fact of the Day

More Information

As a man extremely dedicated to his farm and its animals, George Washington saw the economical advantages of using mules to farm (easier to feed, work longer, etc.). The first of the animals came from King Charles of Spain where the Spanish monarchy had isolated a community for safekeeping and as a traditional status symbol. [ source]

Washington's love for the land contributed to his advocacy towards marijuana. He himself cultivated the crop in the 1790s where it was commonly used for hemp and the balance it brings to a garden's soil density; a perfect cover had he needed one in the 1700s.
A mule is a mix of a horse and a donkey.
