Fact of the Day

More Information

For instance, one rejected writing The Book of Enoch was found at the foot of the Nile, in Ethiopia. Enoch, meaning something to the tune of god as my light (or way), was said to have walked amongst Jesus and had been given a tour of heaven. He supposedly describes heaven from a first hand point of view in the book. By way of constellations, Enoch could harness the powers himself if he so pleased. This book also alludes to heaven as an [aptly named] heavenly body, in sync with the sun, moon, stars and cosmos. This may have been omitted due to its pagan feel, but in today's world it could be accepted as a more feasible explanation to those scientifically inclined believers.
This text is also known to have been widely read by early christians and others alike. Many copies of the story have been found in different places and languages.
Many other scriptures were rejected, including some claiming Jesus accidentally murdered a boy in his youth, but revived him soon after. The continuation of Genesis' Adam and Eve was also rejected as it depicts the attempts of Adam to help he and Eve cleanse themselves of the evil they committed. In each attempt, Eve is tricked by the devil in angel form. In addition to the rejected material, a gospel of Mary Magdalene shows how she was first on Jesus' list.
The early Christians, including the Gnostic sects, definitely had a better idea of the message of Jesus Christ (weather human or profit) because of their knowledge of a time before the institution of the church.
An interesting fact from the History Channel: Mary (the mother of Jesus) is mentioned more times in the Qur'an than in the Bible.
