Fact of the Day

More Information

Historically, Mycenaean women were prominent figures in religion. During parties for Helen, she and 11 other girls would dance around naked in a field, smoke opium, and continue dancing until getting more intimate. Opium can also be attributed to many of the oracles in ancient Greece. Trance like premonition was most likely a drug trip.
The ruler of Athens intended to rape Helen in order to satisfy his need for her. Many men were driven to commit crimes just as heinous due to the beauty of Helen. Helen would often appear at ceremonies with breast-less outfits. This obviously added to the appeal of the so-called most beautiful woman in history and the face that launched 1000 ships.
