Fact of the Day

More Information

Giordano Bruno [1548-1600] was a traveling student. He preached some controversial thought of the time, including Copernicus and his thought that the sun was stationary and at the center of what he called the universe. Galileo himself is rumored to have read one or more of the many works by Bruno. Philosophy was not extremely popular at the time and Galileo may not have wanted to leave proof of his association with such a hated man.
In slight fairness to the church, he did dispel christianity as absurd and call the bible a book for imbeciles. By no means should that be grounds for burning someone, but I can see why they'd be mad.
Giordano Bruno wrote of controversial theories that we are still incased by today. In his On Cause, Principle, and Unity, Bruno addresses the fact that the viewer is part of the equation. He realizes that there is no overriding force applied to humanity, instead, nature is a cycle and is the only thing that exists.
Civilizations rise and fall, people come and go, religions differ, the sun rises and sets each and every day.
