NewScientist.com mentions that both apple pie and sticks of cinnamon in cups of tea have a beneficial amount of the spice. Whole cinnamon (which includes the bark), consumed in large amounts is not healthy due to its blood thinning agents.
Cinnamon makes cells more aware of insulin in order for it to move through; and the opposite, obesity causes insulin resistance.
