Fact of the Day

More Information

In 1877 Kellogg released a handbook entitled "Plain Facts for Old and Young, A Warning on the Evils of Sex." A man strong to his convictions, it is said that he never once made love to his wife. In the handbook he blames about 30 afflictions on excessive masturbation (i.e. disobedience; laziness; epilepsy). He urged parents to be on alert for signs of acne, smoking, and cursing as these were also said to be due to masturbation. Unfortunately, John Harvey Kellogg did not stop there. As mentioned he was completely awestruck by the human bowel. He believed that all the waste passing by there created a breeding ground for all sorts of disease and illness. He raved about an enema machine that could apply over 15 gallons of water thru a bowel in a matter of seconds; his poor patients. Once again, the headstrong Kellogg pushed farther. What was his cure to the human bowel, you ask? A coating, yogurt, administered through both ends.
